Type

Review Type in general and as Photo Shop type tools.
1. Copy the terms and definitions in blue below.
Terminology
• font family - A font family includes all versions of a type-face such as regular, italic and bold.
• point - A point is 1/72 of an inch. Type is measured in points such as 12 point type.

Terminology found in the Photo Shop Character pallet
• font size (in points)
• leading - The distance between lines of type, also measured in points.
• kerning - The distance between individual letters.
• tracking - The distance between letters over-all.
• vertical scale - stretching the type in a vertical direction (up and down)
• horizontal scale - stretching the type in a horizontal direction (side to side)
• baseline shift - raising part of a line of type up or down from the baseline, creating subscript or superscript.
• color - A color-picker for type is found within the character pallet.

Additional type features in Photo Shop.
• drop shadow - located in the layers menu
• type warp - a pallet located in the options menu when the type tool is selected.

2. Type your name in Photo Shop using the rules below. Put everything on a single canvas and save as a screenshot (shift, apple, 4) named last-first- type-review.

• Type your name in 60 point type, Helvetica
• in 12 point type, Times
• in 30 point type, bold, Times
• in 30 point type, helvetica, tracking set at 200
• Type your name in 60 point type, Arial Black, tracking set at 0, with a drop shadow.
• Apply the warp tool using Bulge.

3. Do your best to imitate the ad below. Copy color, font and spacing - Your best guess. Try to be accurate.

4. Exit Ticket:  Copy the terms only again as a list on a 1/4 sheet of paper and give it to the teacher on your way out the door once the bell rings.
